The Center on Central offers a variety of programs suited for preschoolers as well as babies and toddlers. In addition, The Center on Central offers summer camps geared to preschoolers, as well as birthday parties.

Coworking for Parents

The Center on Central is proud to announce a new affiliation with Coworking for Parents.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning March 27 continuing through June 14, adults can work from The Center on Central, using chair and table space and our wireless internet connection, while their children participate in arts activities.
This program is brought to you by Coworking for Parents and The Center on Central.
Each coworking day runs 9:00am-12:00pm. Parents cannot leave the building without also taking their children. Parents must bring their own food/snack or arrange to have it delivered. We have a refrigerator and microwave oven available for use. Parents should also bring their own personal care supplies, clearly marked with their child’s name.
Cost is $32 per child enrolled. Pre-registration is required, and is limited to 11 children, no more than 4 of whom can be one year old or younger. We must have a minimum of 3 children pre-registered and prepaid in order to run the program on each scheduled day – if the minimum enrollment is not met, we will announce cancellation approximately 24 hours in advance and refund or credit monies paid to a future program date.
Optional: From April 3-May 22 for children ages 6 months-23 months or April 5-May 24 for children ages 2-5 years old add a My Smart Hands registration.
Adults without children are welcome to participate, on a space-available basis, at a cost of $10 – please contact us on the afternoon prior to the coworking program day you wish to attend in order to confirm space availability and arrange for payment.

My Smart Hands (for Babies and Toddlers)

My Smart Hands uses American Sign Language (ASL) to teach their hearing babies and young, pre-verbal children to communicate their needs to their parents and caregivers.
Baby sign language reduces frustration, accelerates verbal development and strengthens cognitive skills. It also enhances child-parent bonding through time spent teaching signs to your baby.
My Smart Hands classes are full of fun and energy and are filled will music, games, books and more!
My Smart Hands Level 1 is an 8-week session for infants and toddlers 6 months-23 months old, beginning Tuesday April 3.

Come learn Spanish in a game-filled class that accentuates fun and immersion in the Spanish language.
¡Ven a Jugar! (come and play) is a 45-minute exploration of the Spanish language through role-playing, games, music, art, and other hands-on activities.
Many public elementary schools once introduced the study of foreign languages, only to cut these programs in the wake of budget deficits. What better way is there to continue to give your child a head start? It has been documented that young students ‘absorb’ knowledge. Neural pathways are formed making learning information easier later in life. In this class, children are exposed to the wonderful world of Spanish through the use of songs & rhymes. The addition of American Sign Language hand signs give students a visual association for unfamiliar words & aids in their retention. Coloring pages, puzzles, games, or simple craft projects are provided.
