COME SPIN OUR WHEELS!

The Center on Central offers instruction in both handbuilding and pottery wheel, suited to a variety of different ages and levels of experience. You will find descriptions of regularly scheduled weekly classes, workshops and summer pottery specialty camps listed below.

In addition, you can schedule a 90-minute, private, workshop-style class at a cost of $90 for private session, or bring a friend and pay $60 each, or bring 2 friends and pay $50 each, or bring 3 friends and pay $40 each for the class, or bring 4 friends and pay $35 each for the class, plus $10 per person for supplies.

This pricing and time allotted includes firing your piece after the session. You can return to glaze your piece at open studio time (for a second firing afterward) at the reduced rate of $20 per person for a single visit.

The same type of option applies to a 60-minute, private, workshop-style class for children ages 8-12 only. The rates are: Private = $60, 2-person = $45 each, 3-person = $35 each, 4-person = $30 each, 5-person = $25 each, plus $10 per person for supplies.

General Pottery: Handbuilding (grades K-5)

Cost: $25 per class when signing up for a full 6-class set, plus $40 materials fee.

This course will cover handbuilding approaches to clay, along with techniques of surface decoration. Beginning and advanced students are welcome.

Things you’ll need to know:

• Please be careful in choosing the correct session dates and times – there may be a lot of information to scroll through. If you choose the wrong item before purchase, you will have the opportunity to remove it from your shopping cart. If you make the purchase and get a confirmation that appears to not be for what you wanted to purchase, please contact us and we’ll sort it out.

• The link above in orange will send you to a page where you can scroll through the remaining calendar of General Pottery – Handbuilding sessions for grades K-5 for the rest of this program year. That page also has a calendar search feature in the upper right-hand corner where you can focus on the date(s) of interest to you.

• Clicking on the blue “Sign Up Now” button takes you to a page where you need to log in before making a purchase. If you are an existing client of ours, but new to the MindBody Inc. registration software, you should be able to find your profile by entering your first and last name and then you will need to enter your email address in order to set up a password. There is also an option to log in using your Facebook account.

• Once logged in, you will be shown a page with your selected item for purchase. If this is the correct item, you may click on the blue “enroll” button.

(If this is not the correct item, you should be able to hit the “back” button on your browser to get back to the list of choices. If that does not work, you may navigate through the MindBody Inc. site using the tabs at the top of the page to guide you – or close that window and start again on this page. We are also available to help you during our regular business hours at 610-710-1487.)

• Once clicking the blue “enroll” button, you will be taken to the shopping cart, where again the item(s) you selected will be displayed. If an item appears that you did not wish to purchase (or appears twice), you may remove it by clicking on the gray circled “X” to the far right of the item

• Once you are satisfied that the correct items appear, you may either click on the “Continue Shopping” link to find more items for your shopping cart (such as other offerings or adding another family member’s selection to the shopping cart), or you may click on the blue “CHECK OUT” button.

• If you have any applied credit with The Center on Central, such as a gift card on file, those funds will be applied first (unless you choose otherwise in the radio button prompt). You have the option to store your credit card information securely on the MindBody, Inc. servers if you choose.

• Once you have completed entering your credit card information, click on the blue “PLACE ORDER” button (you may also wish to take note of our business policies at the bottom of this page). Do not navigate away from the window until your order is confirmed. You should also receive a confirmation email (you may receive 2 – one as a purchase receipt and one as a specific schedule enrollment confirmation).

Introduction to Ceramics (for adults)

This class will cover the basic techniques to working with clay. This is a perfect class for beginners or those who want to improve their skills.

We will cover new skills every class including handbuilding with slabs, coils and pinching. We will also spend one class on the potter’s wheel learning to throw pots!

We will spend some time learning about glazing and surface decoration to help you give your finished pieces a unique flair. Students can expect to complete one piece per class on average.

Pottery - Private and Semi-Private Wheel Instruction for beginners

Type: Pottery
Group: Adults, Elementary School, High School, Middle School
Cost: $35 per class based on 5 registrants, $40 per class based on 4 registrants, $50 per class, based on 3 registrants, $60 per class, based on 2 registrants - or $90 per class for private class, plus $10 per person, per class materials fee. Deposit: $100.
Individual/drop-in sessions: By appointment, but individual classes can be custom-scheduled

Class is limited to 1-5 individuals, and runs 90 minutes.

There is a 60-minute option for children ages 8-12 only. Pricing runs $25 per class based on 5 registrants, $30 per class based on 4 registrants, $35 per class, based on 3 registrants, $45 per class, based on 2 registrants – or $60 per class for a private class.

General Pottery: Hand and Wheel (middle school & high school)

Type: Pottery
Group: High School, Middle School
Cost: $22.50 per class, with 6-class minimum, plus $40 materials fee. Deposit: $50.

This course will explore the potter’s wheel, cover handbuilding approaches to clay, along with techniques of surface decoration. Beginning and advanced students are welcome.
