Cost: $30 per class, with 6-class minimum, plus $55 materials fee. Deposit: $50.

Studio 4 is a place for young artists to experience painting and drawing in a studio setting. Drawings will be made and color techniques applied to sketches. A free flowing, aggressive painting style will be encouraged to promote confident brushwork, and to overcome the fear of making mistakes. We will occasionally explore other media, such as collage and texture techniques.

Awesome Acrylics is the next step in Studio 4. Artists learn additional techniques on composition, color theory, and painting steps to build a great painting.

Since artists always begin with a plan, we will work with numerous thumbnails, blocking-in shapes, color and end with harmonizing the completed work. Our young artists will learn to slow down and think before painting, and gain confidence in their ability to blend their innate creativity with execution of learned skills.
