Alison Bongiorno

Alison Bongiorno has called the Philadelphia area her home since birth. She attended Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, along with a K-12 teaching certification. Having completed student teaching at a gifted center and a special needs, approved private school, Alison brings experience in working with exceptional students with along the entire spectrum.

Providing students of all ages and abilities a critical arts education has been Alison’s goal, regardless of the environment. Here at The Center on Central, Alison instructs youth and adults in hand building and wheel-thrown ceramics, drawing, painting, bookmaking, and other various media and techniques. When she is not teaching, Alison works to maintain her own art making practice focused in 3D media—like clay and wood — which can be seen on her website.

Pottery: Wheel and Handbuilding (teens and adults)

Group: Adults, High School
Provider: Alison Bongiorno
Cost: $25 per class, with 6-class minimum, plus $40 materials fee. Deposit: $50.

This course will explore the potter’s wheel, cover handbuilding approaches to clay, along with techniques of surface decoration. Beginning and advanced students are welcome.
