Christopher Gage

Christopher Gage lives and works in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, as a practicing artist as well as a Breathwork practitioner. As an artist and art teacher, he embraces many media, including Painting (watercolor, acrylic, oil, egg tempera, wax encaustic), Printmaking (silkscreen, linoleum relief), Book-binding, Sculpture, and Video. As a practicing Breathworker, he gives one-on-one guided breathing sessions, helping clients learn to breathe for deep relaxation. He has also gives Tarot card readings and has led workshops on the Tarot for contemplative, therapeutic and creative purposes.

In his art as well as in life, Chris prefers not to be limited to any one subject or medium. He approaches art in various way, including for its therapeutic value, and teaches it for the sake of the self-reliance that making things with your own hands and imagination can bring.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design (2009). He has led workshops for Bryn Mawr College’s Student Art Club, and taught at various after-school programs in Philadelphia over the past 7 years. He is happy to be joining Center on Central as Clay Studio Technician, and looks forward to seeing how else he can contribute as an instructor in pottery and other offerings.
