Annie Linton (Growing Stronger program)

Annie Linton, M.Ed is a clinical exercise physiologist with 20 years experience working with a wide variety of children with special needs. She is a personal trainer, as well as an adjunct professor in exercise science.

Annie has a true passion for helping children meet their potential both physically and emotionally and is looking forward to bringing “Growing Stronger” to The Center on Central.

Growing Stronger - fitness program for children with special needs

Join us for “Growing Stronger” – a 6-session, once a week fitness program for children ages 6-15 with special needs (class will divide into 2 age groups if sufficient enrollment is reached)

The process: Completion of a questionnaire with medical, nutritional and physical activity information required in advance of first meeting

First meeting: Assessment continues with introduction of a variety of simple exercises
Second meeting: Total body weight resistance and partner resistance
Third meeting: Stability ball, stretch band resistance
Fourth meeting: Agility training, balance and core
Fifth meeting: Hand weights, muscular endurance
Sixth meeting: Progressive conditioning, re-assessment

Each meeting will include these five components: Warmup, Stretching, Exercise Activity, Cool down , Discussion (addresses exercise just completed, nutrition and social strength)
